Chipotle Mexican Grill is dedicating its new “round-up” digital fundraising program to help provide laptops for remote learning students across the United States who don’t have access to laptops.

Consumers ordering food through the company’s digital channels can donate to Kids in Need Foundation by rounding up their change to the next highest dollar. The fundraiser, which will support under-served junior high and high school students, will run through Sept. 27.

Besides laptops, the funds will also be used to help buy school supplies that Chipotle plans to deliver to students in chain branded backpacks stuffed with free meal cards.

“The new digital fundraising program is another example of our relentless push to replicate the Chipotle restaurant experience digitally,” Curt Garner, chief technology officer, said in a statement. “Customers can now contribute to impactful organizations in their community through delivery and pick-up orders.”

In addition, Chipotle said it has created a digital way for local community groups to raise funds. In the past, Chipotle has supported local fundraisers for clubs, art groups and youth sports through in-restaurant fundraisers.

Those in-restaurant fundraisers can now be done digitally using unique promotional codes.

“When your supporters enter the code online for pickup at your local Chipotle, 33% of event sales will be donated directly to your cause,” the company said.

In June, the fast-casual chain launched a “round-up” program via its digital channels to raise funds for various organizations, starting with the National Urban League. The second fund-raiser, which ended Aug. 31, benefited the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

Since June, Chipotle said this “real change” program has raised more than $1.4 million for organizations supporting underserved communities.
