McDonald’s confirmed that it is testing a new variation of its line of portable snacks, the Chicken Flatbreads, in markets throughout Nebraska, Maryland and New Mexico.

According to a promotional Web page, the Chicken Flatbreads feature grilled chicken wrapped in grilled flatbread and are available in four varieties, all containing fewer than 300 calories:

  • Tuscan Tomato Basil, with basil pesto, tomato and garlic aioli

  • Four Cheese, with garlic aioli and a blend of cheddar, Monterey Jack, mozzarella and fontina cheese

  • Southwest, with guacamole and pico de gallo

  • BBQ Bacon Ranch, with bacon, barbecue ranch sauce and the four-cheese blend

The Chicken Flatbreads are being tested at a suggested price of $1.89, but prices and participation may vary, a McDonald’s spokeswoman said.

Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald’s operates or franchises more than 32,000 restaurants worldwide, including approximately 14,000 locations in the United States.
