On Thursday, Moe’s Southwest Grill named a new president. Erik Hess replaces Bruce Schroder in the top post at the fast-casual chain, which is owned by Atlanta-based Focus Brands. Hess joins the brand after 25 years with McDonald’s Corporation where he served in a variety of senior leadership positions.

We’re well-positioned to accelerate growth.”

Hess will oversee the Mexican concept’s franchise and company operations, marketing, supply chain and product innovation, according to a statement. Late last year, the company unveiled a brand makeover with an updated look, logo and menu with new emphasis on Southwest street food.

“Hess has a proven record of increasing sales and accelerating growth in both new and established markets worldwide,” a statement from Moe’s read.

“He brings a unique perspective to the brand with intimate knowledge of consumer behaviors while balancing the operational complexities present in a large franchised organization.”

Moe’s currently has 725 units, almost all of which are franchised.
