Like many brands, since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Panera Bread has pivoted to capture the changing habits of a socially distant, digitally reliant consumer base. Over the past several months, the company has announced curbside pickup with geofencing capabilities that can automatically alert employees when customers arrive to pick up their food, and more recently, a partnership with Google’s suite of apps to allow ordering through Google Search, Maps and Assistant.

The next step in the fast-casual brand’s continued technology investment will be order status functions which will push out delivery status notifications to customers through text, email, and notifications through the MyPanera app. Email and mobile app push not...
