Systemwide same store sales at Dallas-based Wingstop increased 12.8% for the quarter, a jump driven primarily by an increase in transactions — an enviable metric in an industry challenged by sluggish guest counts.
Most brands with positive same-store sales have tied the upturn to an increase in menu prices. But Wingstop said most of its boost is coming from transaction growth, not a rise in menu prices.
“We’re very happy with that,” CEO Charlie Morrison told investors Thursday morning during a conference call.
