CARPINTERIA Calif. Calling it the “cure for the common crabs,” or crabbiness, Carl’s Jr. on Wednesday launched a limited-time Green Burrito Crisp Burrito menu item.

The new burrito features a flour tortilla, filled with a mixture of ground beef, cheddar cheese and jalapenos, and deep-fried. The item is sold at participating locations for a recommended $2.89 for three pieces, and $4.59 for five pieces, or as part of a combination meal with a side and drink. A side of guacamole also is available for an extra charge.

“The common crabs have been plaguing hungry guys for many years, so we felt it was our civic duty to come up with a cure. Our new burritos are available without a prescription, but they are so tasty that they could become habit forming,” said Brad Haley, Carl’s Jr. executive vice president of marketing. “My only regret is that we were too late to help poor Christian Bale.”

CKE Restaurants Inc., based here, operates, franchises or licenses 1,185 Carl’s Jr. and 1,912 Hardee’s restaurants in 42 states and 14 countries.
