Aleppo pepper is a reddish-brown colored spice most often used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. It has a moderate heat level and a fruity taste. It’s found on only 1 percent of menus, but it is gaining ground. Aleppo pepper’s use on menus has increased 208 percent over the past four years.
