SAN DIEGO After getting feedback from customers, Jack in the Box said it is rolling out new French fries to its 2,200-unit chain.

The San Diego-based burger chain said it has changed the way it makes fries by improving the crispness, temperature and freshness of the popular side item.

“Fewer menu items generate more polarizing opinions than French fries,” said Tammy Bailey, Jack in the Box's division vice president of menu marketing and promotions. “We’ve received a lot of feedback from consumers on what they like most about French fries, with flavor, texture and crispness at the top of the list. So we created our new French fries with a crisper outside texture that enhances the potato flavor and helps them retain their temperature.”

The new fries are available at participating Jack in the Box restaurants in three sizes: a small size sells for a recommended $1.39; a medium size is $1.79; and a large is $1.99.
