SEATTLE Starbucks this week plans to roll out “splash sticks,” a sort of plastic plug for cup-lid sip holes, to prevent spillage.
The idea came from Starbucks’ new social networking site, MyStarbucksidea.com, through which customers can make suggestions and comment on chain practices. More than 200,000 votes for products or store ideas have reportedly been suggested since the site launched March 19.
Starbucks said it had been testing the splash sticks in certain markets and decided to roll them out nationally "based on overwhelmingly positive customer and partner response."
Customers are urged to save and reuse their Starbucks-logo-shaped splash sticks to reduce waste.
