Taco Del Mar, a more than 200-unit quick-service chain, has brought back a crispy shrimp summer special paired with a spicy chipotle sour cream sauce.

Available through Sept. 8, the crispy shrimp is a protein option for tacos, burritos and salads. Prices range from $2.19 for a shrimp taco to $5.99 for a shrimp salad.

The item is an example of the chain's efforts to introduce more seasonal offerings to the menu, said Elizabeth Andreini, chief marketing officer for Taco Del Mar Franchising Corp.

“Seasonally enhancing our menu keeps the selection at Taco Del Mar fresh and interesting for customers,” she said. “Shrimp has been incredibly popular in the past as an additional menu selection and has returned for a limited time this summer. Customers have also loved adding the chipotle sour cream to other selections, such as chicken Baja bowls and beef Mondo burritos.”

In the fall, the Seattle-based chain plans to introduce another seasonal dish that will pair pork with pineapple salsa. The brand’s Facebook followers were invited to help name the dish, and the winning selection is expected to be announced later this week.
