TAMPA, FLA. —Richard S. Turer, who was instrumental in leading Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. to a marketing and sales turnaround, has been named vice president of marketing for the 126-unit Bonefish Grill, a division of OSI Restaurant Partners Inc.
Turer replaces Jane Portnoy, who is relocating to the Newport Beach, Calif., office of OSI, where she will head marketing for Roy’s and Blue Coral Seafood & Spirits. —Richard S. During his eight years with Checkers as senior vice president of marketing, Turer revamped the company’s approach to marketing the 800 Checkers and Rally’s Hamburgers locations, most notably with the “You Gotta Eat” campaign and sponsorships with NASCAR, professional football and baseball teams, and the NCAA. —Richard S.
