DALLAS Chili’s Grill & Bar said Wednesday it has opened its first restaurant in El Salvador, which brings the number of countries with Chili's locations to 26.

The new, 237-seat restaurant in Antiguo Cuscatlan, El Salvador, is operated by franchise partner American Food, which is based in San Salvador

Chili’s, the flagship brand of Brinker International Inc. here, now has more than 90 units in Latin American nations, including Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Brinker has more than 190 international locations.

“Brinker continues to maintain a strong focus on international growth and this opening is yet another example,” said Greg Walther, Brinker’s president of global business development. “El Salvador presents an attractive market to both us and our franchise partner, American Food.”

Brinker International owns, operates or franchises more than 1,700 restaurants across all of its brands, which also include On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Maggiano’s Little Italy.
