Fuddruckers, the 186-unit premium burger chain, debuted a version of combo meals for its three most popular sandwiches this week.

The company, which was purchased in bankruptcy court earlier this year by Luby’s Inc. of Houston, is bundling its bacon-cheddar, three-cheese and “The Works” burgers with fries and soft drink for the limited-time offer.

Company-owned stores price the “Fudds Deal” at $9.49 for a third-pound burger and $9.99 for a half-pounder. Franchised locations may offer varied pricing, the company said.

Founded in 1980, Fuddruckers is the granddaddy of premium burgers, and was a predecessor to the growing number of such gourmet burger chains as Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Smashburger, Shake Shack and the burgeoning group of celebrity-chef-driven burger spots.

Parent company Luby's Fuddruckers Restaurants LLC of Houston operates 96 Luby’s cafeterias and onsite foodservice management as well as 56 company-owned Fuddruckers units. Franchisees operate 130 Fuddruckers locations. The company also owns the Koo Koo Roo Chicken Bistro brand.
