MILFORD Conn. Subway is trumpeting the weight-loss story of Jared Fogle again in a multimedia promotion commemorating his 10th anniversary of having shed 245 pounds on a diet of the chain’s sandwiches.

Consumers can win a chance to appear in a commercial with Fogle by text-messaging the word “Jared” to SUBWAY, or 782929, starting today. Participants get a bounce-back message inviting them to donate to Fogle’s fund for fighting childhood obesity.

The promotion follows the chain’s repeated efforts during the past 10 years to imbue Subway with a healthful image by showcasing Fogle’s weight loss. As Fogle explained in several commercials, he lost the weight by eating a six-inch Subway sandwich for lunch and dinner and walking every day.

Subway is the world’s largest restaurant chain, with more than 28,500 locations in 86 countries. The brand is franchised by Doctors Associates Inc., which is based here.
