With the lazy days of summer over, top restaurant chains in the quick-service and fast-causal segments are tapping their digital channels to ensure consumers remain engaged.

Big chains are stepping up strategies tied to menu innovation, free delivery and marketing. Chipotle Mexican Grill and El Pollo Loco continue to tease consumers with free delivery promotions through their app and Postmates, respectively. KFC is also doing a delivery promotion, offering free food added on, but through DoorDash.

Taco Bell is giving away top of the line gaming consoles, Xbox Series X bundles, in its app. Popeyes is throwing a virtual tailgate party featuring a variety of prizes from a home-theater package down to promotional codes for free Popeyes food. White Castle has a new app, and a promotion this month for users who register.

Ike’s Love & Sandwiches is also offering free delivery this month, plus discounts for two sancwiches on certain days.

One of the promotions, previously announced by Chipotle, involves a major rule change for the brand’s Free Delivery Monday Matchup.
