Burger King U.S.-Canada and Tim Hortons U.S. promoted new executives into leadership roles, the divisions announced Thursday.

Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International Inc. said its Miami-based Burger King division had promoted Peter Perdue to chief operating officer for the U.S. and Canada, overseeing operations at the 7,200 Burger King restaurants in North America. Perdue will continue to report to Tom Curtis, president of Burger King U.S. and Canada, RBI said.

The company also said Tim Hortons had named Katerina Glyptis as president of its U.S. division, reporting to Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons Canada and the U.S. Glyptis, who has been in various roles at RBI for nine years, most recently served as vice president of franchise operations for Burger King restaurants in the U.S. and Canada.

Of Perdue, Curtis said in a statement: “A greater focus on operational consistency is foundational to the success of our ‘Reclaim the Flame’ plan. Peter has proven experience working closely with franchisees to improve profitability through operations initiatives, in addition to supporting restaurants through our field team and his experience running our business in the Asia Pacific region. He has been an architect of our current plan and is a trusted partner for our franchisees.”

Burger King, founded in 1954, has more than 18,700 locations in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories.

Tim Hortons, founded in Canada in 1964, has about 5,600 restaurants systemwide.
