In the midst of the pandemic, many restaurant operators wondered when the free fall of the economy would end. On Thursday, Del Taco CEO John Cappasola got his answer.
“Our business has recovered and is now stable,” the CEO told investors during a third-quarter conference call on Thursday.
Del Taco franchisees reported a 6.5% increase in third-quarter same-store sales. Owner-operator locations, which represent about half of the chain’s 596 stores, drove an overall 4.1% increase in quarterly same-store sales for the Lake Forest, Calif.-based company.
Comps at company stores increased by 2%, which Cappasola called impressive given that 90% of company stores are in California. The state has been slow to reopen dining rooms.
