Outside of the pizza and chicken wings sector, Del Taco is among a few publicly traded chains that has logged positive same-store sales during the pandemic.

Del Taco saw a 4.1% increase in its latest quarterly comps, a boost primarily driven by the brand’s drive-thru and delivery operations. 

Chains with strong off-premise channels have been well-positioned during the pandemic. But most are still posting negative comps.

So, what’s the secret to Del Taco’s faster COVID-19 recovery?

Chief Marketing Officer Tim Hackbardt, who started just before the pandemic hit, explains during NRN’s latest Extra Serving podcast.

He also reveals Del Taco’s latest menu move, a collaboration with Cholula Hot Sauce.
