Dunkin’ Donuts fries and other snack items are being tested at select Boston locations, the Canton, Mass.-based brand confirmed with NRN after images of the menu items started popping up on social media sites.

“As part of Dunkin’ Donuts’ ongoing commitment to menu innovation and meeting the needs of on-the-go guests, the brand is now testing a new $2 snacking menu at a small number of its restaurants in the Boston market,” a spokesperson for the brand wrote in a statement.

“The snacking menu features several new sweet and savory items that pair perfectly with Dunkin’ Donuts’ signature beverages and are ideal for an energizing afternoon break,” the spokesperson wrote.

“The test is designed to gather valuable feedback from consumers, franchisees and their employees to help inform future decisions about a possible national rollout.”

Based on a promotional photo released to Boston.com by the brand, the menu could be called Dunkin’ Run.

Fries might seem like an unusual choice for a brand best known for their coffee and sweets, but recently Taco Bell announced that their Nacho Fries were the best-selling product launch in the chain’s history.

According to the brand spokesperson, the snack menu includes:
• Donut Fries
• Munchkins’ Dippers
• Gluten Free Fudge-free Brownie
• Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies
• Pretzel Bites with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
• Ham & Cheese Roll-ups
• Waffle Breaded Chicken Tenders

The acknowledgment of the $2 menu comes just days after the brand announced its Dunkin’ Go2s, a three-tiered menu, which includes two sandwiches or wraps for $2, $3 and $5

Brand executives have previously said they were focused on beverages and simplifying its menu.

But in a statement after Dunkin' Brands latest earnings were released, CEO Nigel Travis said,  “We are actively working to drive afternoon traffic through p.m. beverages and food along with all-day value offers that kicked off in January.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has more than 12,500 restaurants in 46 countries worldwide.
