KFC has teamed up with Funko, Inc., 10:10 Games, and Universal Products & Experiences to launch a Colonel Sanders character in the action-adventure game Funko Fusion, launching today.

According to 10:10 Games, Funko Fusion is a single-player action adventure that features characters wandering through cinematic worlds. Players will have the opportunity to bring KFC founder Colonel Sanders – in his signature white suit or alternative outfits such as Chef Colonel Sanders – to those Funko Fusion worlds inspired by Jurassic World, Back to the Future, Jaws, Battlestar Galactica, The Thing, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and more. Colonel Sanders’ character is only available for KFC Rewards members.

Alternative outfits for Colonel Sanders are redeemable in the restaurant chain's. No points are needed for the Chef Colonel Sanders character, but members need to redeem 250 points to get the Mecha Colonel outfit.

KFC launched its Rewards program earlier this year. By teaming up with an anticipated game like Funko Fusion, the chain has an opportunity to ramp up membership in the fledgling program. This isn’t the first time the chain has tapped into a growing gaming community as part of its broader marketing strategy. Last year, for instance, KFC offered exclusive in-game rewards for the new Diablo IV video game.

The global gaming industry is expected to be worth $321 billion by 2026, according to PwC’s Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2022-26. That growth is coming from all demographics – from moms to baby boomers. But it’s the coveted Gen Z and its $360 billion of disposable income that may be the biggest target. According to Deloitte, roughly three in 10 Gen Z teens (27%) say gaming is their favorite entertainment activity.

Funko Fusion is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and on Nov. 15 for PlayStation 4. Funko Fusion also launches digitally for Nintendo Switch in December, while the Nintendo Switch physical edition launches in March 2025.
