Chain launches voice-initiated ‘McDonald’s Apply Thru’ using Google Assistant, Alexa

More than 100 million people a month use voice assistants for handsfree texting, controlling smart home appliances and playing music.

Now, job seekers can use Alexa or Google Assistant to initiate a McDonald’s employee application.

On Wednesday, the Chicago-based chain launched McDonald’s Apply Thru, a voice-initiated application process that all three companies –  McDonald’s, Amazon, Google – are calling a first of its kind. The job search can be made through Google Assistant or Alexa devices in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. A rollout to other countries is expected in the coming months, McDonald’s said.
