McDonald’s is celebrating its third annual McDelivery Day later this week with this year’s swag event encouraging fans to order in the evening, the busiest delivery time for the chain.

Dubbed McDelivery Night In, the free line of apparel and merchandise includes a World Famous Fries T-shirt, three different types of socks, a deck of cards, plush slippers with a sesame seed bun print and a pack of French-fry branded scrunchies.

The line is “designed to add comfort to your cozy evening with McDelivery,” McDonald’s said.

Customers can add the merchandise when ordering McDonald's from the Uber Eats app starting at 5 p.m. local time on Thursday, Sept. 19.

There’s a Happy Meal-style twist with the promotion.

The swag customers receive is random with every Uber Eats order of $10 or more from participating restaurants in the U.S. Think of it like an adult version of a Happy Meal, where you don’t know what toy you’ll get until you rip open the box.  Customers could get a pair of Big Mac socks or a deck of cards. 

This year’s promotion with Uber Eats comes as McDonald’s is pushing delivery more than ever.

In recent weeks, the brand has expanded its delivery footprint across the U.S. by adding additional third-party partners, DoorDash and Grubhub. The latter is delivering for the brand in parts of New York.

McDonald’s said more than 1 million customers order delivery every day from more than 21,000 restaurants around the world. In the U.S., nearly 10,000 of the brand’s 14,000 restaurants offer delivery, and 60% of those orders are placed at night, the chain said.

By the end of 2019, delivery is expected to reach $4 billion in global revenue for the Chicago-based chain. 

Online food delivery sales are expected to grow from $25 billion to $62 billion in 2022, according to a 2018 report by equity research firm William Blair. The firm noted that in some markets, delivery at McDonald’s represented 10% of restaurant sales, well above the industry average of 7%.
