Papa John’s International Inc. will offer special year-end bonuses, totaling about $2.5 million, to about 14,000 front-line team members in the company’s corporate restaurants and supply chain, the pizza company said Tuesday.

The Louisville, Ky.-based pizza brand noted that, earlier in the year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, It had provided targeted bonuses, incentives and crisis pay for some corporate restaurant and supply chain team members and expanded health, wellness, paid time-off and college tuition benefits.

“Never has Papa John’s growth and success depended on our team member’s hard work, steadfast dedication and commitment to safety as much as this year,” said Rob Lynch, Papa John’s president and CEO, in a statement.

“In particular, our front-line workers in our restaurants and supply chain have been a constant source of positivity and commitment throughout this challenging year, enabling Papa John’s to deliver to millions of new and returning customers,” Lynch said.

In addition to mid- and end-of-year bonuses and expanded benefits like free virtual doctor visits for corporate employees, this year Papa John’s corporate and franchised restaurants have also hired more 30,000 new workers.

Earlier in December, Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino's Pizza Inc. accounced it was distributing $9.6 million in bonuses to 11,5000 company-owned store and supply chain hourly workers and drivers.

For the third quarter ended Sept. 27, Papa John’s posed net income of $15.7 million, or 35 cents a share. Revenues in the quarter increased 17.1%, to $472.9 million, from $403.7 million in the same period a year earlier. Same-store sales in the quarter were up 23.8% in North America and up 20.7% internationally.

As of Sept. 27, Papa John’s had 5,360 restaurants in 48 countries and territories.
