This week, the top story on Nation’s Restaurant News was about Subway’s new curated sandwiches. The infinite customization that has been the quick-service sandwich chain’s hallmark is being de-emphasized to improve throughput and guest satisfaction.
Elsewhere, McDonald’s announced a monthlong virtual summer camp with concerts and deals in the month of July. The event, on the company’s smartphone app, includes exclusive performances by blackbear and Kid Cudi.
Panera Bread announced last week it will no longer merge with Danny Meyer’s special purpose acquisition group, HUGS, “in light of unfavorable economic conditions, including the deterioration of the market for initial public offerings,” parent company JAB Holding Company said.
