Wendy’s offers Triple Berry Frosty, hones summer promos

Quick-service restaurant brand offers new options, many on the smartphone app

The Wendy’s Co. continues to add its voice to promotional conversations in the quick-service segment, offering a new Frosty flavor, new items and special offers through its app.

The Dublin, Ohio, based brand this week swapped out its limited time offer on the Frosty drink platform, replacing Orange Dreamsicle with Triple Berry. Both flavors subbed in for vanilla, leaving chocolate as the other option.

The Triple Berry Frosty is available for a limited time and combines strawberry, blackberry and raspberry flavors into one sweet-tart Frosty.

In early June, Wendy’s also offered “Saucy Nuggs” as a nationwide digital smartphone app option to select from among seven flavors: honey barbecue, garlic  parmesan, Buffalo, spicy honey barbecue, spicy garlic parmesan, spicy Buffalo, and spicy ghost pepper. Package are offered in four-, six-, 10- and 20-piece chicken nugget versions.

"This new innovation is all about providing a next-level culinary experience rooted in flavor," John Li, Wendy’s global vice president of culinary innovation, said in a statement. "We crafted four unique sauces to complement the Wendy's nugget experience and to provide fans with a variety of chicken options that meet their lifestyles and palettes.”

Wendy’s is also observing Father’s Day, which is June 16 this year, by offering a buy-one-get-one-free option for a Baconator sandwich on the smartphone app and a Breakfast Baconator in the morning.

The original Baconator features two beef patties with American cheese and six strips of Applewood smoked bacon.

Wendy’s, founded in 1969, has more than 7,000 restaurants systemwide.
