SPARTANBURG S.C. Family restaurant operator and franchisor Denny's Corp., based here, said using PerfectDisk Version 8 drive-defragmentation software on the company's Windows-based computer servers accelerates data backup and improves application performance.

Before purchasing PerfectDisk by Raxco Software Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., Denny's used the drive-defragmentation software bundled with the Microsoft Windows operating system, Raxco representatives said. Denny's operated 394 full-service restaurants and licensed or franchised another 1,152 worldwide as of Dec. 26.

"Since installing PerfectDisk, our backup times have decreased significantly, which is critical for us in our production environment," Denny's director of technology services Karry Edmonds said. "We've [also] seen a big increase in application performance, which makes our employees more productive. And with PerfectDisk's automatic scheduling we can automate the entire process yet still maintain control."
