Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. said Thursday it has named George Condos chief operating officer.

Condos succeeds Diana Petrovich-Tao, who left the company.

Condos has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry, mostly with Dunkin’ Brands Inc., where served as senior vice president and brand officer of Dunkin’ Donuts and vice president of marketing, development and operations.

He also served as chief executive of Friendly’s Ice Cream when that company was sold to Sun Capital Partners in 2007.

“George’s proven success in the restaurant industry, including his expertise in franchising, makes him ideal to join the Arby’s leadership team,” said Arby’s Restaurant Group president Hala Moddelmog. “His skill set and experience will add tremendous value to what is needed to move Arby’s forward.”

“I’m very excited to join Arby’s,” Condos said. “The brand’s potential, combined with new ownership from Roark Capital Group, create the right opportunity for me to contribute to the future success of the brand.

“I look forward to working with our franchisees and company operations teams to create our strategic plan, develop and execute an operationally efficient menu and focus on the speed, accuracy and quality of our operations.”

Arby’s operates more than 3,600 quick-service sandwich restaurants systemwide. The brand was purchased by Roark Capital Group in July 2011 for $430 million.
