Friendly Ice Cream Corp. said Monday it has named Andrea McKenna vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer.

McKenna, who replaces Skip Weldon at Friendly's, previously spent eight years as vice president of marketing at Boston-based retailer Talbot’s Inc. Before that, she served as director of advertising and sales promotions at Dunkin Donuts, a division of Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin Brands Inc. While there, she led the chain’s repositioning and new advertising campaigns.

“Andrea’s vision and track record of developing successful integrated programs will be critical to shaping our direction,” said Ned Lidvall, Friendly's president and chief executive. “Her diverse experience working in hospitality, retail and within advertising agencies provides her with tremendously valuable insights into opportunities for our business.”

Wilbraham, Mass.-based Friendly's, which recently celebrated its 75th anniversary, has 500 family-dining restaurants.
