Andrea_Zahumensky_kfc-cmo_0.gifKFC has named Andrea Zahumensky as its new chief marketing officer, filling a vacancy created when Kevin Hochman was promoted from the same role to chief concept officer in March.

Zahumensky will lead KFC’s marketing, advertising and digital initiatives, the division of Yum! Brands Inc. said in a release Wednesday.

The move is effective Dec. 4.

“I connect deeply with the origin story of KFC and have been an interested follower of the brand turnaround for the past three years,” Zahumensky said. “I couldn’t pass up the incredible opportunity to join the brand.”

Zahumensky most recently served as brand director for Procter & Gamble’s baby care division in North America.

“Andrea is a highly regarded marketing professional with a 20-year track record of success building multi-billion dollar brands globally,” Hochman said in a statement.

Zahumensky joins a marketing division that has, under Hochman’s direction, reinvented itself with a series of funny, creative and sometimes self-deprecating ad campaigns.

In September, KFC released a GPS cassette tape that demonstrated the brand’s commitment to avoiding shortcuts. And last month, it was discovered that the fried chicken chain had hidden its ‘secret recipe’ in plain sight on its Twitter page.

The Louisville, Ky.-based chain has approximately 21,000 restaurants worldwide.
