The Krystal Co. has named Carl Jakaitis chief financial officer, effective immediately, the company said this week.

Jakaitis, who replaces Linda Philp as CFO, was previously CFO for McAlister’s Deli. Prior to that, he was CFO of Petrus Brands. Earlier, he was also an operator of the Planet Smoothie and Shane’s Rib Shack chains. From 1994 to 2004, Jakaitis served as CFO for Church’s Chicken.

“Carl’s 35 years of restaurant industry experience will provide The Krystal Company with the additional leadership and expertise we need to continue to develop this iconic brand and help fuel our system growth,” said Omar Janjua, Krystal’s president and CEO.

In his new role, Jakaitis will oversee accounting, finance, information technology and supply chain management. He will report to Janjua, the company said.

Janjua became Krystal’s president and CEO on Jan. 21, replacing interim CEO Harsha Agadi, who remains as non-executive board chairman. Agadi had filled in for Doug Pendergast, who left Krystal in September and was recently named president and CEO of Quiznos.

Atlanta-based Krystal has more than 350 restaurants in 11 states. The company was acquired by private-equity firm Argonne Capital Group in 2012.
