Marco’s Pizza on Friday named Steve Seyferth the company’s chief marketing officer.

The Toledo-based pizza chain, which recently surpassed 800 locations, hopes the experienced advertising and marketing executive will elevate its communications across all platforms.

Seyferth has led communication initiatives for numerous companies, including Domino’s, General Mills, Kraft, Coors, Gatorade and the Ford Motor Company. He’s held vice president roles at AOL Time Warner and AT&T AdWorks.

While working with ad agencies, Seyferth led the development of ad campaigns, including the “Be Like Mike” campaign for Gatorade, featuring Michael Jordan, that was created in 1991.

“Marco’s Pizza continues to set the pace in the pizza industry, opening a new store every three days,” Seyferth said in a statement. “Now is the time to leverage its growth, its reputation, and its strong Italian roots to position Marco’s as the pizza of choice.”
