PLANO Texas Human resources veteran Rodney Morris said he has accepted a position as chief people officer for Raising Cane’s, a fast-casual chicken restaurant chain that recently moved its headquarters here from Baton Rouge, La.

Morris, who spent the past four years as senior vice president of Fired Up, the Austin, Texas-based parent of the 150-unit Carino’s Italian, said he was to start at Raising Cane’s on Thursday. His career includes stints at Brinker International in Dallas and San Francisco-based Pasta Pomodoro.

Morris is the second high-level executive from Carino’s to join Raising Cane’s. H.G. “Carey” Carrington, former president and chief financial officer for Carino’s, became Raising Cane’s chief financial officer.

Raising Cane’s has 70 restaurants.
