The in-house promotion takes effect in the new year

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. has promoted Jonathan Muhtar to the roles of executive vice president and chief concept officer.

The change becomes effective Jan. 1, 2018, according to a filing with the Security and Exchange Commission.

Muhtar has been the company’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer since December 2015.  

Prior to joining the Colorado-based casual-dining chain, Muhtar was executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant. Before that he was vice president of global marketing and innovation for Burger King Corporation.

Red Robin currently has 570 restaurants across the U.S. and Canada.
