Fast-casual salad chain Sweetgreen announced Monday the appointment of Christopher Tarrant as the 231-unit, Los Angeles-based company’s new senior vice president, chief development officer.

Tarrant most recently served as the chief development officer for dessert brand, Nothing Bundt Cakes. In his new role, Tarrant will be reporting to Sweetgreen chief operating officer, Rossann Williams, and will oversee real estate development, design, and construction for the brand.

“We are thrilled to have Chris on the team as we embark on this next phase of pivotal growth,” Williams said in a statement. “With Chris’ extensive real estate experience and industry knowledge, he’s an invaluable addition as we advance our mission to connect more communities to real food.”

Previously, Tarrant worked for Nothing Bundt Cakes as CDO for more than a year and a half. Before that, he spent seven years at Starbucks, where he first was a vice president of development for the brand’s Canada division, and later served as a senior vice president of store development for Starbucks U.S. Tarrant has also held leadership positions at Panera Bread, McDonald’s, and Krispy Kreme. In total, he has more than two decades of experience in the real estate and development sectors.
