Taco Bell Corp. has named former cosmetics brand marketer Marisa Thalberg its first chief brand engagement officer, the quick-service operator said Wednesday.

Thalberg, who will join Irvine, Calif.-based Taco Bell on June 1, has spent eight years at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. as corporate leader of global digital and social marketing efforts. Her role there included developing the cosmetic brand’s eCommerce marketing platform, as well as setting the vision and strategy for digitally- and socially-driven consumer engagement.

Prior to Estée Lauder, Thalberg held various senior-level executive marketing positions at Unilever Cosmetics International, SureFit and Revlon. She is also founder of the organization and website Executive Moms.

At Taco Bell, Thalberg will be responsible for building on marketing efforts that will deepen brand engagement through all media channels. She will report to Taco Bell chief marketing officer Chris Brandt.

Taco Bell finished the first quarter ended March 21 with 6,228 restaurants. The chain has pledged to reach $14 billion in sales by 2022, and add another 2,000 units.
