LINCOLN Neb. A family has sued the franchisee of a KFC/Taco Bell unit for allegedly allowing an employee to urinate and spit in their food two years ago.
The suit, filed against Mid Plains Food and Lodging in North Platte, Neb., alleges that Sidney, Neb., police officer Keith Andrew and his wife and two sons became “violently ill” after eating the meal on Oct. 28, 2005. The Mid Plains employee, Casey Diedrich, pleaded guilty in March to a similar incident, which was part of a scheme directed against police officers, the Associated Press reported.
The lawsuit said management was aware of “special servings” of food that were urinated in or spit in by employees and then served to police officers but did nothing to stop the practice.
Aspokesman for Mid Plains did not comment to the AP about the lawsuit, nor could Diedrich be reached for comment.
The lawsuit alleges that the family has suffered physical and mental harm, nearly $1,200 in medical expenses and will incur future medical expenses.
