BUFFALO N.Y. Foodservice contractor Delaware North Cos. said it has been awarded a contract to manage event catering at the Plaza Hotel in New York City when the landmark re-opens on its 100th birthday in October.
The operation will be run in partnership with Manhattan-based operator Great Performances, Delaware North said.
Elad Properties acquired the Plaza, which is undergoing a $350 million renovation, in April 2005. The facility is being revampled to feature a mix of high-end condominium units and hotel rooms, along with retail outlets and restaurants. Delaware North said it is spending approximately $13 million to update the hotel’s ballroom and banquet/special events facilities.
Separately, the State of New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation awarded Delaware North the contract to operate the Saratoga Gideon Putnam Hotel and Roosevelt Spa in Saratoga State Park. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
