IRVINE, CALIF. El Pollo Loco restaurant took home top honors recently at the fast-casual Mexican-food chain’s annual Pollo Bowl of Tournament Champions. —A Los Angeles-area

The tournament was created four years ago to promote exceptional guest service through employees’ knowledge of the standard operating procedures of the chain of more than 360 grilled-chicken restaurants. Teams from individual restaurants competed in regional competitions with the finalists competing in the Anaheim Convention Center, near the chain’s Irvine headquarters. —A Los Angeles-area

This year’s wining team, the San Fernando’s Quests, was led by general manager Xochilt Ordonez and included assistant manager Maria Alarcon and four crewmembers: Jose Cervantes, Shirley Guerra, Rigoberto Magana and Maggie Briseno. —A Los Angeles-area

Briseno was additionally recognized as a Pollo Bowl Wizard for answering correctly every question throughout the tournament. —A Los Angeles-area
