In-N-Out Burger Inc. moved up to the No. 4 spot in Glassdoor Inc.’s annual “Best Places to Work” survey, the job-review website announced late Tuesday.

The Irvine, Calif.-based burger chain climbed three spots, from No. 7 last year, in the 10-year-old employee rankings of U.S. companies with more than 1,000 employees.

The three other restaurant companies listed in the Top 100 are Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A at No. 72; Orlando, Fla.-based Darden Restaurants Inc. at No. 85; and Seattle, Wash.-based Starbucks Corp. at No. 96.

In-N-Out has been on the “Best Places to Work” list five times, Glassdoor noted. Currently, the burger chain follows this year’s top three finishers: Facebook, Bain & Co., and Boston Consulting Group.

Glassdoor expanded the “Best Places to Work” list to 100 from 50 this year, said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor’s CEO and co-founder.

“We’re on a mission to help people find a job and company they love,” said Hohman in a statement. “By highlighting more employers this year, we aim to take another step toward supporting that goal and to helping job seekers get matched to employers that are a great fit.”

The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards are based on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback through a review about their job, work environment and employer over the past year. Rankings are based on a 1-to-5 scale, with five being the best.

The Top 10 workplaces are:

1. Facebook (4.6 rating)

2. Bain & Company (4.6 rating)

3. Boston Consulting Group (4.6 rating)

4. In-N-Out Burger (4.6 rating)

5. Google (4.6 rating)

6. lululemon athletica (4.6 rating)

7. HubSpot (4.6 rating)

8. World Wide Technology (4.5 rating)

9. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (4.5 rating)

10. Ultimate Software (4.5 rating)

Chick-fil-A and Darden drew a 4.3 ratings and Starbucks had 4.2, Glassdoor said. This marks Chick-fil-A’s second time on the list and the fourth for Starbucks. Darden debuted in this 2018 ranking, the company said.

“Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance advantage,” Hohman said.
