Amid a tight labor market, multiple national restaurant chains including Taco Bell, Shake Shack, Noodles & Company, KFC, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Chipotle Mexican Grill are coming up with innovative ways to attract and keep salaried and hourly employees through perks like instant pay, cash bonuses for hourly employees and work-day flexibility for managers.
“With the limited pool of labor right now, I think it's smart for chains to think of creative ways to retain employees,” said Tim Powell, managing principal at industry consultancy Foodservice IP in Chicago.
