LYFE Kitchen, a healthful fast-casual concept, opened its first restaurant this week in Palo Alto, Calif.

Concept chief executive Mike Roberts, former president and chief operating officer of McDonald's Corp., told Nation's Restaurant News at a pre-opening event that he expects the brand's emphasis on healthful, fresh foods to have a positive impact on its employees.
