Performance Food Group said it has agreed to purchase Fox River Foods Inc., an independently owned broadline distributor based in Montgomery, Ill. Fox River conducts business in seven states throughout the upper Midwest. Founded in 1956, the firm serves more than 7,000 customers in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri and Minnesota. It recently expanded its warehouse storage capacity to 326,000 square feet.

George Holm, chief executive and president of PFG, said the acquisition “will significantly strengthen our position in the region and in several key metropolitan areas, particularly Chicago.”

Mac Pearce, executive vice president of PFG, called Fox River “one of the fastest-growing and best independent distributors in the country.”
