TULSA Okla. Beautiful Brands International, the franchisor of Camille’s Sidewalk Café and other brands, said Friday that it had added to its portfolio a new bakery-café concept called The Crusty Croissant.

Opened in March 2008 in Tulsa, The Crusty Croissant offers a French-influenced menu featuring croissants, crepes and quiches as well as pasta dishes, salads, fruit and pastries. The concept is owned by founders Sean and Kristie Savage.

Under the terms of the agreement with the Savages, BBI will provide product development, real estate, legal, marketing, franchise and other support services. BBI intends to position The Crusty Croissant as a fast-casual contender with a smaller footprint and lower start-up costs than other bakery-café competitors.

The units will be about 1,800 square feet, said David Rutkauskas, BBI’s founder, president and chief executive. The average check is $10.

Based in Tulsa, BBI franchises six other brands, including Camille’s Sidewalk Café, Coney Beach, Rex’s Chicken, FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Café, and Dixie Cream Donuts.
