Casey’s General Stores Inc. has named Darren Rebelez, who is stepping down as IHOP president, as the convenience-store chain's president and CEO, effective June 24, the company said Wednesday.

IHOP, the family-dining division of Dine Brands Inc. said Jay Johns would succeed Rebelez as president, effective June 13.

Rebelez has served as IHOP president since April 2015, when he joined the company after serving as chief operating officer of 7-Eleven Inc. He was with 7-Eleven for seven years after serving in management roles at ExxonMobil and Thornton Oil Corp.

“We are thrilled to welcome Darren to the Casey’s family,” said H. Lynn Horak, Casey’s chairman, in a statement. “Darren brings a remarkable combination of leadership experience in the convenience store, fuel and restaurant industries, and he has an impressive track record of driving performance and innovation.”

Rebelez said it was an exciting time for Casey’s and the convenience store industry.

“I have long admired Casey’s and look forward to working closely with its talented team to continue providing outstanding service to local communities across our markets and creating value for all of Casey’s stakeholders,” Rebelez said.

Casey’s, which will announce its fourth quarter and fiscal 2019 earnings results on June 10, has 2,100 locations in 16 states in the Midwest.
