BETHESDA Md. HMSHost Corp., the giant airport concessionaire owned by Italy’s Autogrill S.p.A., has acquired the assets of Westlake Village, Calif.-based Foodbrand LLC, a multibrand food court operator in shopping malls and airports, from Mills Enterprises and Panda Restaurant Group for about $13.3 million, including assumed liabilities.

The deal, done through subsidiaries Host International and HMSHost USA, will give them contracts at the Washington Dulles and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky international airports and at nine malls.

HMSHost said FoodBrand has more than 80 foodservice outlets generating about $66.3 million in sales and more than $3.8 million in consolidated unit cash flow.

“We are committed to providing a seamless transition for airports and shopping centers as FoodBrand exits the concessions business,” said HMSHost president and CEO Elie W. Maalouf.

HMS Host operates in more than 100 airports worldwide and has annual sales exceeding $2.3 billion, about 46 percent of the 34-nation Autogrill group’s total annual sales exceeding $5 billion.
