ATLANTA Hooters of America Inc. will offer a half-pound cheeseburger with fries for $5.99 every Monday, beginning Jan. 4, in a “More Than a Mouthful” Monday promotion.

The nationwide program, which a company spokeswoman said on Thursday is about a $5 discount from the a la carte price, follows on the heels of Hooters’ $5.99 boneless wing platter offer on Wednesdays. That deal began at the beginning of 2009. Casual-dining chains have been offering a variety of discounted offers to build traffic during the recession.

“This promotion represents the best value in the restaurant industry today,” Mike McNeil, Hooters’ vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “We are offering our guest a bigger, fresher, better burger and fries than any fast food restaurant at a price you’d expect to pay for a burger served in Styrofoam. And best of all, instead of coming out of a window, you have a friendly Hooters Girl serve you at a table and clean up the dishes when you are done.”

The company said the 2009 wing platter promotion “has proven successful during a down economy with increasing guest counts on Wednesdays.”

Hooters of America Inc. owns or franchises more than 450 restaurants in 42 states and 26 nations.
