SAN DIEGO Jack in the Box has added the Bacon Breakfast Jack, a sandwich featuring bacon, a fried egg and American cheese, served on a warm bun.

With a price starting at $1.29 and ranging upward in some markets, the sandwich is a variation on the chain's morning staple, the Breakfast Jack, made with bacon in place of ham.

"It tastes great, it's portable, and it's easy on the wallet," said Teka O'Rourke, director of menu marketing and promotions for franchisor Jack in the Box Inc. "We also serve our breakfast menu around the clock, so you can order a Bacon Breakfast Jack morning, noon and night."

Jack in the Box operates or franchises more than 2,000 restaurants in 17 states. In addition, the company operates or franchises more than 300 fast-casual Qdoba Mexican Grill units.
