SAN DIEGO In a growing trend of value-focused mix-and-match options, Jack in the Box has launched a “Pick 3 for $3” promotion.

The chain described the limited-time offer as a way for guests to create their own value meals by selecting three choices among eight menu items for $3. The San Diego-based quick-service chain follows its own sister brand, the 500-unit Qdoba Mexican Grill, and others in the mix-and-match trend. Qdoba earlier this year added a Craft 2 section to its menu that lets customers pair two of the chain’s most popular menu items, some at smaller portion sizes, for between $5.99 to $7.39. Jack in the Box’s Pick 3 for $3 menu is available at participating restaurants within the 2,200-unit chain. Excluded markets include Albuquerque, N.M.; Boise and Twin Falls, Idaho; Seattle and Yakima, Wash.; Lake Charles, La.; and the Texas markets of Austin, Beaumont/Port Arthur and Waco.
