ORLANDO Fla. Darden Restaurants Inc. Wednesday said Dan Lyons will be retiring as senior vice president of human resources at the end of the year and will be succeeded by Daisy Ng, who will assume the role June 1.

Lyons, who has been with Darden 17 years and has led the company’s human resources for 12 years, will remain in a transition support role for the balance of the calendar year.

Ng, who will report directly to Darden chairman and chief executive Clarence Otis, joined Darden in October 2005 as senior vice president of talent management. Immediately before joining Darden, she served as vice president of workforce development at Hewlett Packard.

Otis said Lyons helped the company “grow by more than 500 restaurants, 65,000 employees and $3.5 billion in sales during his tenure. And he did it all while helping Darden foster a culture that values diversity, caring and respect.”

Otis added that Ng “brings tremendous new skills and will help us fully capture the long-term growth opportunity available to Darden.”

Darden owns and operates more than 1,700 restaurants that generate $7 billion in annual sales. Its brands include Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52.
