INDIANAPOLIS Steak n Shake Co. has switched to trans-fat-free frying oil in all 478 of its namesake casual-dining restaurants nationwide. The company said it plans to continue to find ways to utilize products made without trans fats over the next few months.
“Incorporating frying oil with zero grams trans fat is one step in a series of initiatives to respond to growing concerns about health and healthy eating in the U.S.,” said chief marketing officer Steven Schiller
Steak n Shake currently offers a number of items with zero grams of artificial trans fat, including the chain's Steakburgers and milk shakes, according to the company.
Steak n Shake, based here, operates in 19 states.
